All of the glass used in Vetrazzo is recycled and it makes up about 85% of the material. Check out the fabulous color selection here and the nifty little stories that accompany each surface here.
The bistro green with patina (above) is one of my favorites. It reminds me of stained glass. The glass used in bistro green comes from old soda bottles, olive oil containers, pickle jars, wine, & water bottles.
Here is my other favorite, Palladian Gray---the color we chose for the showroom. I am very fond of the cool colors that make up this surface. It works so perfectly on top of our stainless steel cabinetry and across from our Tidewater blue cabinetry that will soon have a pewter countertop from Metallo Arts.
These photos are pretty awful. I need to try taking them at night or on an overcast day. The sunlight floods into our showroom...which is quite nice for atmosphere, but not for taking pictures.
I back painted the glass doors shown above to match the tidewater cabinetry that you can see peeking in the background. The Palladian Gray actually has glass in it that is the same shade of blue.
The whole display is so lovely, crisp, and clean. I cannot wait to share photos of the entire design and also cannot wait to receive our beautiful pewter tops.

Vetrazzo is really cool stuff. I couldnt find it in the New Jersey area though. But I did find something called IceStone on www.replacementcounters.com that looks like a similar idea made in New York.
Vetrazzo is now available in New Jersey. Our distributor in that area is Atlantic Plywood ((800) 937-6700). They are still setting up their dealership network, but in the meantime they would be happy to ship your Vetrazzo to a fabricator in your area. Vetrazzo and Icestone may be similar in make-up, but are quite different in appearance, so if Vetrazzo is what you dig then give Atlantic a call.
I have never seen IceStone. After researching it, I found out that my supplier carries it as well. You should definitely pay Alantic a visit to see the Vetrazzo in person!
I love the bistro green one. So pretty!
I recently spoke with my supplier about the differences between Icestone and Vetrazzo. One of the main differences is that Vetrazzo has a 10 year warranty and Icestone does not have a warranty.
Lucky Vetrazzo has a warranty and too bad about IceStone.
Our dealer told us yesterday that IceStone has been cracking!! Better to go with Vetrazzo even though there are fewer colors available. I still don't know what the difference is in cost!
speaking of $$...how much should i expect to pay per square foot? i'm thinking of vetrazzo for my kitchen counters...
i'm in miami and there aren't any showrooms here. the closest is n.florida! so i'll have to pay for shipping also!
i absolutely love it though!
It sounds like unfortunately Kerry is a bit too far away in New Orleans to do the design work for you, but I hope I can help you out by directing you to a fabricator in FL that does work all over the state and is one of Vetrazzo’s Master Fabricators. Give Gene McDonald at Refresh Interiors in St. Petersburg a call at (727) 527-0206. He does incredible work and though Vetrazzo is a high design product, price is comparable to high-end stone, he keeps his prices down by running a really efficient business.
We are about to buy Vetrazzo (Palladian Gray) for our new kitchen island. I've heard rumors about the glass chipping but wonder if that's just with IceStone. Now that you've had the Vetrazzo installed for a few years, do you still love it? Any regrets?
Beautiful glass countertops.
